Pirate Themed Bedroom Decor

Pirate Themed Bedroom Decor

Next month Oscar (my youngest) is turning 3, and his dad and I have decided that it's about time we decorated his bedroom and made it a fun place for him to sleep and play. And as he's currentlyobsessedwith Pirates and Pirate Ships, we've decided to incorporate that into the decor and give him his very own Pirate themed bedroom!

How cool is that?!

Pirate Themed Bedroom Ideas Today I wanted to share the 5 Pirate themed bedroom ideas we are currently considering with you guys. Then once we've chosen which one we're going for and his room is all done up, we'll make sure we update you and give you a full room tour. So, are you all ready to set sail? Then what are we waiting for? Yo ho, let's go!!

PIRATE THEMED BEDROOM IDEAS

Pirate Themed Bedroom Idea First up I love this cute, toddler friendly Pirate Bedroom Range that I came across at Asda. The bed is the perfect size for the transition from cot to toddler bed, and it even has a smiley face at the foot, which I really like. I think it looks awesome with plain blue bedding and I like that it has guards at the top to help prevent little ones from falling out. Oscar very often naps on our settee, and he's always rolling off and onto the floor! Luckily he tends to go quite slowly, so he doesn't hurt himself, but I do worry about him falling out of bed at night when I'm not around to help him.

The range also includes a table and two chairs which are lovely, bright and colourful and have 3 fun characters painted on them that children are sure to love, a 9 bin storage unit and a gorgeous toy box in the shape of a treasure chest. I'm really impressed at just how spacious the toy box is, and think that it would actually encourage Oscar to put his toys away! I don't think I would get the storage unit in his bedroom though as it's only a small room. The rest of the furniture would fit nicely though.

I would paint the walls a nice pale blue colour, and maybe add a treasure island with a palm tree and some clouds to make it even more fun-looking. Oscar has engineered wood flooring in his bedroom, which I think would look fine with this furniture so I wouldn't need to mess about changing that, but I'd maybe add a rug at the side of the bed, so he has somewhere warm to stand when he gets up in a morning.

Pirate Themed Bedroom Idea The next of my Pirate themed bedroom ideas revolves around this gorgeous Little Tikes Pirate Ship Bed from Toys R Us. The bed is just the right size for a toddler, and I love that it doubles up as an awesome play centre as well! The bed comes complete with ships wheel, built in toy box, night lights and cubby holes built into the headboard, and even a mast with a fabric sail and crows nest.

I think Oscar would love to play at sailing the seven seas in this bed, and as he currently has white nursery furniture in his room I don't think I'd need to replace any of it as you can see from the image above that they look absolutely fine together. But I'd probably add a Pirate themed rug and hang some pictures on the wall to brighten things up a little.

Pirate Themed Bedroom Idea As I mentioned before, Oscar currently has white furniture in his bedroom, so just adding some Pirate themed bedding and soft furnishings may be the cheapest and most practical way to update his room. I love this pale blue Pirate duvet cover set from Babyface, which I think would look stunning on his bed. They also have matching curtains and a fabric toy box in the range, as well as an awesome rug with a treasure map on it! As the rug is quite big I think Oscar would have lots of fun sitting on it to play with his toys.

With this look I could either leave the floor as it is – which is engineered wood – or pop down a nice, pale coloured carpet. I think the second option is probably the most sensible as Oscar likes to run around without any shoes or socks on, so I wouldn't need to worry about his feet getting cold if we put carpet down. We could also paint the walls a plain magnolia and hang some pictures. I love this Pirate themed illuminated canvas that we could personalize with Oscar's name.

Pirate Themed Bedroom Idea I also love this cool boat bed that I came across on Pinterest last week. I have to admit that I don't know where it's from, but I couldn't resist including it in my post! I love the black, red and white colours and there would be plenty of room for Oscar to snuggle down at night. I also like that there's some storage at the front of the bed, although I'd be a little unsure about having a bell for Oscar to be ringing all day! Haha.

With a bed like this, I don't think we would have much room for any other furniture, so I'd maybe just pick up a treasure chest for Oscar to pop his toys in to, and then add some floating shelves on the wall for his books and other nik-naks.

I would paper the walls with some cute, toddler-friendly Pirate wallpaper I found online, which depicts the choppy waters that are home to cute whales and schools of blue fish and surrounds several small islands. I think Oscar would really love it. And I would add a sandy coloured carpet and a rug to finish the look, creating a Pirate themed bedroom that would see him right through his infant and junior years.

Pirate Themed Bedroom Idea And last but not least we have my favourite of all the Pirate themed bedroom ideas – although this is possibly a little too grown up for Oscar at the moment. It features this amazing Captain's Armada Pirate Ship Bed from Turbobeds. I love it because it looks like a real pirate ship, and even comes with a mattress and the sails you can see at the back! The bed is super high quality and I could even buy a matching trundle that pulls out to reveal a sleepover bed for when his 'first mate' wants to stay over!

I also love the matching Shark desk with light up teeth and awesome captain's chair which both match the bed perfectly. The chair is made of wood with a faux leather seat and looks like only the best pirates are worthy of sitting on it! Oscar loves to sit and colour, so I think he'd really appreciate having something like this in his room. And then as he gets older of course it would make a great little spot for him to do his homework!

What I also like about this particular furniture range is that there are so many additional pieces you can buy to really make the room your own, such as bookcases, bedside tables, chests of drawers and wardrobes. They all look fantastic! I also love the range of matching bedding they do too, so I'd more than likely invest in as many different bedding sets as possible so I could change how it looks slightly every couple of weeks.

Now, I could only find this set available in the USA and Australia, but I very often use a site called MyUS to ship things here to the UK, and since they always come super duper fast I wouldn't hesitate to order some furniture and have it shipped here!

With this room I would try to keep the colour of the walls pretty neutral, but maybe paint a treasure map on there like this one I found on Pinterest. And I think some really nice solid wood flooring would work really well with this particular look, especially if I then scattered things like a ships wheel, rope and fishing net around the room.

And there you have it – 5 Pirate themed bedroom ideas that I really love.
